I just started playing golf about two years ago, and i love it...however, just about ALL of the instruction books and videos and magazines cater to the right handed golfer. so, when I read those, I have to "translate" the wording based on the fact that I'm a lefty. any help would be appreciated.
im a left handed golfer as well, but i have always been stuck with translating...actually, when i was younger, i played a whole year right handed, haha that didn't work. but my instructor videotapes me and has a software which takes different pros swings and makes them left-handed (tiger woods for example or lorena ochoa) so i see right handed pros swinging left-handed, lol! its just a mirror function thing, so if u can google it and possibly find the software, im sure it will help ur game tremendously, hope i helped!

I'm a left handed golfer and everyone is always telling me that there is certain advantages to that. Is that true? and if so, what are they?
I am a lefty too (And an avid golfer). I would say yes and no
Yes because a lot of courses have the fairway split to the right which is a plus for lefty's as a normally hit shot will end up going right down the fairway
No because...well there are tons of reasons, ha ha. One of the main ones is it is about 75% easier to find a nice set of righty clubs (Also factoring in price).

My mother bought my son a plastic golf set and he loves it but he is left handed so everything is backwards. Please Help Me!
Rocketman- While I'm sure you were trying to be helpful, I wouldn't have posted the question if the answer was as easy as "Go to amazon.com".

Someone told me the correct way to swing a golf club is to swing with the opposite arm of your dominant arm. Is this true?
It doesn't make any sense.
yea dogg your right hand helps a little but if let your right hand take sontrole you wont hit the ball 10 ft

For a right handed person's golf swing, should the left leg "post up" and straighten out during the down swing? Perhaps not immediately, but what should the left leg be like before impact, at impact, and after impact on the follow through? Thanks
As a right hander, I was always taught that I had to hit against a firm left side during the downswing and follow thru. The side is firm just prior to impact as well as after impact when the force turns the front of the body to face the intended target line..

The title says it all. I golf left handed and my whole right side is more dominant, i also do the same with baseball. I feel more comfortable with it. But my question is, will it dramatically effect my game if im swinging more with my right side and im golfing left handed?
There is nothing unusual in being right handed and playing left. As a matter of fact it is a quite common occurrence and you are joined by Phil Mickelson as a fellow lefty. There are many left handed people who play the game right handed so it is nothing for you to be concerned about. One thing you have to be aware of is when listening to or reading instruction you will relate better to swing descriptions that stress a strong left side for you a strong right side being a lefty. In other words think of your swing as being a backhanded stroke and you should have no problems with your swing.

my daughter wants to attempt golf. not sure if she will like it so don't want to spend alot of money on golf clubs.
As odd as this may sound, try looking at your local department store (ie Walmart, Shopko, or even Fleet Farm or Farm and Fleet). The prices are low, so if she doesn't like the game after trying it, you aren't out a ton of money.
You can also purchase bags, balls, and even shoes at these places to more fully equip her, if you wish.

I want to start golfing again. I quit when I was about ten. I had been playing since I was six. My clubs are...well...a little too small now. I could use my dad's clubs, but he's right handed and I'm left! Where could I find a decent set that's affordable so I can get back into the sport in college?
Dicks Sporting goods for a good set
Wal mart for a cheap set
