Is it easier to golf left handed?

I'm a left handed golfer and everyone is always telling me that there is certain advantages to that. Is that true? and if so, what are they?

I am a lefty too (And an avid golfer). I would say yes and no

Yes because a lot of courses have the fairway split to the right which is a plus for lefty's as a normally hit shot will end up going right down the fairway

No because...well there are tons of reasons, ha ha. One of the main ones is it is about 75% easier to find a nice set of righty clubs (Also factoring in price).

    Ask Phil………while he has had some success…..I don't think he would attribute any of his success's to being left handed….neither would Mike Weir.

    It doesn't make a difference in my case.
    I'll always be practicing the Columbus Style of golfing;
    "Land and Discover."
    Same with my skiing..

    There are minimal advantages… definitely not enough to make you "better".

    At a local course, there are a few holes that dogleg right-to-left. Basically, a righty with a slice is going to be in much worse position on their second shot than a lefty with a slice, because more trouble areas are on the right side of the fairways.

    There is absolutely no advantages, equipment-wise. Most companies don't offer everything they have in left-handed models, especially odd-ball loft/bounce options for wedges.

    Some people look for excuses as to why they got beat, and you being a lefty (since we aren't totally dominating the population) is a rare instance, offering an alibi. It isn't because they slice everything they hit, flub their chips and 4 putted the 5 out of 18 holes.

    You could go one of two ways:
    1. Be honest, and say they have just as much to deal with as you do. Everybody's equal, no matter what side of the tee-box you play on.
    2. Use it to your advantage. If they're playing bad and using your dexterity as a crutch, play it up. They're already admitting that they aren't going to play well.

    One final thought… if lefties have an advantage, wouldn't someone like Phil Mickelson or Mike Weir be holding the Majors record now?
